About Me

My photo
Yarnland, State of Wool, Germany
I´m a total crafts junkie and started with knitting and crocheting when I was 10 years old. Over the years I got totally addicted to yarn and fibers and what you can do with them when you knit them or crochet them. Well, to make a long story short. I have to much yarn now! A lot of unfinished projects and I kept buying new yarn! This is the experiment, that in the next 365 days I will not buy any new yarn and will use up all the yarn I got to make things and then sell them in my onine store. At the end of this year I will donate 5% of my earnings to a good cause, which I still have to find. Please feel free to add me, follow my blog, subsribe or just e-mail me to make suggestions for a good cause!

Repairmen

Well, I have a repairmen in my appartment right now to check on my heater... I didn´t know that there has to be an annual check on the heater every year. And guess what, it´s something the landlord don´t pay. So I have to pay the company who does the check up... great and it seems like that the couple living in the appartment before me didn´t do nothing.... Man, that heater was dirty!!!!!!!!!!

But at least it gave me time to finish my baby cashmerino scarf. So I will be able to wear it to work today! ;-)

Talk to you later,
B.

back @ work...

Today I had to go back to work... it felt strange because I was off monday and tuesday and so all day long it felt like a monday to me and not like a wednesday.

I went to the libary yesterday and got quite a few bokks on knitting, socks and patterns of old german ways to knit and just knitted stuff for men. Pretty cool! Also I found some audiobooks I can listen to while kitting.

I finished listing all my stuff in my stash file @ ravelry and it feels a lot better now. I really got an overview of my yarn supply!

But enough for now, it´s already 9 p.m. here in Germany and I will watch some TV.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Greetings,
B.

Yarn Stash and Audiobooks

It´s tuesday today, my last free day before I have to go back to work and the weather is still aweful. It´s raining Cats and dogs right now! So I had to put my outdoor activity today to the afternoon. I wanted to go to our puplic libary today and see if there are any good books about knitting patterns! And Audiobooks, I knit the best when I can listen to something interesting. Like a thriller or a comedy.

So I thought, hhm, what can I do until then and I thought I could bring my yarn stash and knitting equipment in order. So I´m taking pictures right now, writing down how many I have of each and then list it in my ravelry account. So I´m always up to date and it can also help me getting better ideas for my next projects.

So I will be a busy bee now and sort my yarn stash and upload a picture later to let you all know how it looked like.

Greetings from a rainy Germany,
B.

Monday mornings...

Ahh, it´s monday and the good thing about it is that I´m off work today and tomorrow. Which means a lot more time for my knitting and crocheting projects. And as if somebody in the clouds heard my wish I got my perfect weather for it.

It´s February, 16th 2009 and we have snow and really cold weather. I took a picture of it from my living room window. What do you think? Doesn´t it scream out loud:" Hot coco and cookie weather?".

Unfortunately I have to leave my apartment for a bit because I have to change Euros into British pound for my trip with friend to London next week and I have to go to the supermarket quick for some stuff.

But other than that I did everything yesterday, which means the rest of the day I will be in my comfy chair in my warm living room and continue on my Amigurumi I´m working on right now and also up to date my new ravelry Account.

So enjoy your monday, where ever you are in the world and keep knitting or chrocheting or any kind of craft you do.

Greetings,
B.

Sundays....

Ahh.... I love sundays!

You can sleep long, drink your coffee while reading your mails and then just being lazy on the couch and watch TV or being creative with your crafts.

Today, it´s really sunny and nice here in Germany, I would like to do so but first I have to take care of my appartment first. Just some usual house cleaning work and then my plan is to be lazy in my favourite chair in my living room and work on my projcts.

How do you spend a typical sunday?

Have a lovely sunday and a good start into the new week.

Greetings,
B.

How I got my name!

It´s always interesting to see how some people come up with their names for their blog, their flickr account or their little business for crafts. I´m always interested in it, so I think it´s just fair to let you know how I came up with my name.

It´s pretty simple.

I love the ocean and beng on the beach. I was quite a few times in New England and I just love being at the ocean there. It is my dream to have a house at the ocean one day and live there. Well, when I was there i collected seashells, funny looking stones and I bought some starfishs. They look cool to me and it is really interesting that they once lived.

I started out to love the color blue when I was younger, but now, a few years later I changed completley and like more colors in the driection pink and grenn but I love the color lavender and I like the plant lavender as well.

So I thought why not combine these two things I like the most and create my name for blogs, flickr and so on out of it?

That´s the story how I got my name. How did you get yours?

New pictures uploaded

It´s saturday morning in Germany and I´m sitting in front of my computer with a hot cup of coffee and just uploaded new pictures to my flickr Account. (You can find me there with my Name "LavenderStarfish".)

They contain information of a finished project, where I knitted and felted a bag for my longer knitting needles. But it got to short after the felting and would now fit my normal knitting needles. I will finish it anyways with fabric in the inside and embroidery on the outside and I found a ute little wooden button.

It also contains information about the Hatscarf I´m knitting right now. I hope I can write it like that? It´s a cute little pattern with different cable stitches but you have to focus when you´re knitting it. If you´re familiar with German, it´s an easy pattern, I posted the link for it in my flickr Account. If you need help with the translation just contact me and I will help you!

Also I posted some pics of new yarn I found @ a local department store for less than the normal price and got one of each color. This yarn will be only for my amigurumi ideas. Let´s see how they will turn out in the future.

Have fun with my posts and my pictures,
B.

Waiting for my Ravelry Invite

On Monday, February 9th 2009 I signed up for an invite to the ravelry site. I do have a Flickr Account where I also searched for fresh ideas regarding knitting and crocheting. Most of the adorable patterns have been from this site, so I got the impression that there is no way around Ravelry. Being from Germany, I had no idea what Ravelry is. So I googled it and did the Beta tour on the page. It looks easy to maintain your projects, pictures and everything. Also I got the impression that all the people I got to know through Flickr, swap-bot.com and google, who are also into knitting and crocheting, are there and share their passion with mindlike friendly people. Unfortunately in Germany we do have some boards about crafts but nothing like Ravelry. So I´m excited to get my invite ans start my profile!!!

Hello everybody...

I´m a total crafts junkie and started with knitting and crocheting when I was 10 years old. But haven´t done anything after that. Since 3 years now, from time to time I made something for friends and family as a gift for a birthday or christmas. Everybody loved my creations and always said, I should take it a step further. As far as the knittng, I can do hats, scarfs, Mittens and socks and I love the cable stitch. Lately I tried moreand mre Lace patterns. Since a few month now I got more into crocheting because of an amigurumi book I got for my birthday. I´m working on a monkey right now. Let´s see how it will lokk like in the end.I hope I will find more creative people on blogger, with who I can share my passion for crafts with and also experiences with their work.
